AML 3.0 UCSF stem-cell transplant - Day +55
Blogging tunes: SomaFM: Groove Salad and some NLCS - FTM
Short and sweet update this time: charts and achievements.
While day to day is up and down, we continue to see real improvement week over week and my doctor is very pleased with my progress. I’m still really tired most of the time, just less tired than last week, and so on.
This chart really sums it up. The few months after JazzFest was Cycle 2 and 3. Some UCLA, mostly home, with varying degrees of energy, exercise, etc. I had so much energy after Cycle 3 (which included the trip to Zion). Then into the hospital for transplant and wham! 2-3 weeks of barely being able to move (~Day +7 to +21).
But you can really see the progress in the last month and certain the last two weeks where I’m trying to get at least 3000 steps per day. Here’s the last week.
When I first started the walking it was mostly indoors. A “lap” around my kitchen and living room is 44 steps. So yeah, that’s a lotta laps. I also had to sit and rest often so it was a ton of start/stop. My stamina seems to have gotten better this week — maybe it’s the hemoglobin (charts below), maybe it’s just that I’m approaching Day +60 — so I started doing laps around the outside of my house and yard. Here’s a loopable time-lapse of one lap.
Ok. Here are the UCSF charts since I know y’all love tracking the counts (and watching them go up) and then I’ll list out the achievements since last post.
Achievements since last blog post:
Walked to Andy’s and back
Drove my car (twice) — though only on this side of the 101
Shopped (for 5 items) at Andy’s
Showered without using the shower seat (i.e. I stood up the whole time)
Starting phasing work in a little — about 10 hours a week
Cooked a meal for myself (simple: pasta and sauce, but still)
Had a couple days without a nap
Haven’t needed to take Tramadol at all
Reducing the Ativan
Had a guest over — whaddya say, B Frizzle?
There’s probably more, but that’s all I remember.
Oh, and for you non-Marin folks, there was an incredible sunrise with a little shower and a killer double rainbow this morning. Good sign?
Sunrise pics (facing Southeast) are mine (from bedroom and sun room). Rainbows are courtesy of friends (thanks BK and BF).
